In 2011 Brazil broke its FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) record with more than US$ 66 billion posted in foreign inflows of investment. This was 37% higher than in 2010 and during the global slowdown when investments were  in fact expected to fall. Despite the ongoing malaise, Brazil is holding firm as a destination of choice for FDI and will post around US$ 60 billion, approximately 2.5% of the GDP for 2012, according to Brazil´s Central Bank. Is this due to temporary lack of options elsewhere or is this a clear indication of the continuing trend towards the diversification of the global GDP jigsaw puzzle?

On the private equity side, the importance of the continuing strength in FDI and the long-term attractiveness of Brazil both point towards the consolidation of the country as the principal focus for PE investment going forward in LatAm.

Learn from the players on the ground the key issues in PE-backed M&A deals in Brazil and why more than ever investors need to go beyond the long distance view to truly get immersed in the local PEVC opportunity.
