As advisory bodies to the Deliberative Council, the decisions of the Committees constitute non-binding recommendations to the Board of Directors, and such recommendations must be accompanied by an analysis that supports the decision. Unless approved by the Board of Directors, the members of the Committee do not have the authority to represent ABVCAP before third parties or decide on operational and/or administrative matters of the Association.

Each committee must have up to 5 Coordinators, including 1 Lead Coordinator, in addition to a Sponsor, designated among the ABVCAP board members and responsible for reporting to the Deliberative Council.

The Committee leaders are responsible for designing the work program for each committee for one year, in accordance with the Internal Regulations, after consulting the segment they represent. Each Committee must define in its program: (i) advocacy requests; (ii) products to be developed (studies, research, guides, among others); (iii) events and training, including national and international missions, relevant agendas for the segment; training and workshops.

Cross-Sector Representation Committees:

  • Sustainability Committee (CS)
    • Description: The Sustainability Committee’s goal is to generate knowledge about the topic for stakeholders, aiming to permeate the entire investment cycle of managers and investors, self-regulation, expanding the debate, and building an agenda in partnership with other financial market institutions, as well as increasing the scope and relevance of the Sustainable Investment Forum (FIS), as a center for these debates and promoting a deep and strategic reflection on the role of the alternative asset industry for global economic and social development.

  • Regulation Committee (CER)
    • Description: The Regulation Committee’s goal is to monitor regulatory and legislative changes that may impact the alternative investment industry in Brazil and its stakeholders, proposing necessary improvements in line with best practices, following international benchmarks whenever possible. This committee works alongside all sectoral committees of the Association, reviewing regulatory proposals. Together with the Deliberative Council, CER serves as the intermediary for industry requests between ABVCAP and public bodies and regulators.

  • Events & Education Committee (CEE)
    • Description: The Events and Education Committee’s goal is to map the key training needs of stakeholders in the alternative asset ecosystem, as well as organize training, workshops, events, and missions that can enhance networking opportunities and relationships between ABVCAP members and non-members, and promote the improvement of those working in or wishing to work in the alternative asset industry, sharing best operational practices through industry reference cases.

  • Private Equity Committee (CPE)
    • Description: The Private Equity Committee gathers managers to discuss issues related to investments in established companies with significant growth and consolidation potential, and to propose regulatory changes that favor the development of these activities in Brazil, attract local and global capital to these companies, and provide exit opportunities and legal security for investors, thus increasing the attractiveness of these investments.

  • Venture Capital Committee (CVC)
    • Description: The Venture Capital Committee brings together managers to discuss issues related to VC investments, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and to propose regulatory changes that favor the development of their activities in Brazil and unlock investments in early-stage companies.

  • Corporate Venture Capital Committee (CCVC)
    • Description: The objectives of the Committee are to promote best practices for CVCs aligned with international industry standards, share experiences on the various strategies within this segment, promote improvements in the legal and regulatory framework for R&D investments by corporations, foster networking opportunities and relationship-building among committee members, and conduct studies and research to track the evolution of CVC in the country and provide global references.

  • Institutional Investors Committee (CII)
    • Description: The goal of the Institutional Investors Committee is to increase the participation of Brazilian institutional investors—pension funds, family offices, insurance companies, endowments, development banks, and others—through ABVCAP and its members, in Brazilian private asset classes, providing legal security and an appropriate legal framework to attract these investors.

  • Non-Resident Investors Committee (CINR)
    • Description: The goal of the Non-Resident Investors Committee is to foster investment from international investors through ABVCAP and its members in Brazilian private asset classes—private equity, venture capital, infrastructure, and special situations—providing legal security and an appropriate legal framework to attract foreign capital.
